Internet in the car

Quick question for you guys. My brother wants to use his notebook in his car for work and needs the internet for maps, etc. What type of cards or prepaid type things are out there for this?

He needs to subscribe to an Internet Wireless service.

Verizon, Sprint, ATT provide it. It would get a special PCMCIA card that plugs into the Laptop and obtain Intent connection the way Cell phone obtains line.

Example: http://b2b.vzw.com/productsservices/wirelessinternet/

It is important to talk to people in your geographical area to fond which of the services has the best signal; it varies from one part of the country to the other.

You can do it that way, but if his main need is maps, there are other options.

Such as: Microsoft Streets and Trips with the GPS Locator Module
You can run that with the laptop and it will be easy to see and also hear.

Or get a dedicated unit, like a Garmin or a TomTom

Yes, it would .. But look at Amazon.com ... they have the Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 with
GPS for $80 ... so why buy last years program for a higher cost ? ?
