What is the best software for filtering out sites? I am ready to hook my daughter up to the net, but want to control usage remotely. I have looked at websense, but it is really expensive and more for enterprise level performance. Any others?

while no filtering software is completely foolproof, i think cyberpatrol works somewhat. my school used it... each computer in the lab and classrooms had the software. the user would have to log in to access the server that contained the client software - if they couldn't log in (bad password/username), cyberpatrol would totally block off all internet access, regardless. it worked pretty well. it costs some money though... not sure. but supposedly, there's cyberpatrol software out there for $50 (at least, what Yahoo told me. heh).

CNet's reviews on 3 filtering software: NetNanny, Cyber Patrol, and Cyber Sitter

CNet recommends NetNanny.

hope that helps some.
