I have encountered an Internet Explorer Box (yellow upside down triangle with exclamation mark) that contains the following message:

"Problems with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly. In the future you can display this message by double clicking the warning icon displayed in the status bar."

Another similiar incident said the same thing (Problem with this web page might...etc)

I use Road Runner high speed internet cable and have never had this problem in the last three years of fairly heavy computer use.

These problems have interrupted my ability to conduct some important stock transactions where the result was that I lost a lot of money because I wasn't able to enter the transaction in time.

Later attempts to conduct similiar transactions were met with the same internet explorer box but I was able to finish the transactions after waiting a bit (which appeared to allow the system to catch up).
I am currently running windows 98SE and changed from the latest internet explorer (I believe 6.0) and changed it to internet explorer 5.5 thinking it was a script error my browser was encountering. I also installed a new hard drive and reformatted my system over the weekend.

Unfortunately, on Monday, I encountered another Internet Explorer Box with the same message (Problems with this web page...etc.) but on a Bloomberg.com's home page.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can avoid having this problem show up in the future where it may interupt my ability to carry out an important financial transaction.

I really depend on my system to be dependable and future errors may cause me to lose more money.

Have all the paches and upgrades for IE5.5. I do see it want's me to get 6.0 which has a few patches. I had all the patches with IE6.0 before. Should I go back to IE6.0 and get the patches?
 
Tools -> Internet Options/Advanced Tab -> Uncheck "Display a notification about every script error"
 
earthman and singh are right. It's a scripting error related to your browser. You can turn off those warnings as suggested by singh .. I've had to do it myself for the same reasons you've indicated -- and everything works fine. 99.9% of the time I don't think you'll see the results of having those script-errors not displayed.

I'd go back to 6.0 and get the latest patches.

Or, if I remember right, you can click a button on the warning box (I think it's an OK button, perhaps CANCEL) which will let the screen go ahead and work. This shouldn't have cost you any money at all...
 
well, ill guess i can be the first one to offer it:

you can always dl and try mozilla - some people like it more, some less, but u never know until u try.
its the same browsing engine that the new Netscapes use without all that extra bloatware and crap you have to dl.

theres also Opera, and im sure if you did some searching under the software forum, ull prob find a few discussions on it.
