What in the sam hill is going on with Internet Explorer? Every now and then I go to a page that I know perfectly well it works, and I get a message, "IE cannot display the webpage." Andthen it shows a box that says one thing you can try is "Diagnose connection problems." For instance, it came up on my home page, Google, but it let this page open. To give some background, I'm using an HP a6600f with Vista and I've got 2 versions of IE, one is 32 bit and the other is 64 bit. The 64 bit won't let Flash Player download but the 32 will; and there are some other differences. This problem occurs on both versions. Appreciate some help.

There is no 64-bit Flash Player (for Windows) yet, so that explains that problem. If you haven't been doing so already, try refreshing the page that didn't load.

One of the Domain Name Servers your computer's configured to use might not be responding, then. To check that, start a command-line window and use the command ipconfig /all to find out your DNS servers' IP addresses. Then use the command ping <IP address of the DNS server> to see if each of them is responding or not.

For example, mine are currently set to OpenDNS.org's servers, 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. So if I try ping 208.67.222.222 and don't get a reply, I know that server is down.
