Internet Explorer Won't Submit Forms

Anyone else notice this with IE?

On some web pages, when I click "Submit" to submit a form, Internet Explorer just sits there with the page loading status indicator moving, but nothing happens. It just sits there forever (no timeout).

I've had this happen on two different computers (work and home), but configured similarly and both running Windows XP Pro. Both machines have been reloaded from scratch (not reload CD, but Windows XP CD) several times each. I'm running Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2 on both with Windows XP SP1 installed. Incidentally, I do have the Google toolbar installed, but that is the only IE plugin other than Flash and Java runtimes. The machines I am typing on now jsut received a fresh install yesterday.

It only seems to happen on some times. A couple of sites that come to mind are Anandtech Forums (when replying to topics) and Monster.com. I will fill out form fields and click submit, but nothing happens. To make it work, I open the page in Mozilla and copy the form contents over. When I click Submit in Mozilla, it works every time! (Currently, I'm typing this message in Mozilla because it fails in IE).

This is driving me nuts because I've reloaded several times. There must be a piece of software I am installing that is the culprit, but I can't figure out what it is (especially since it's difficult to test - I don't want to submit test resumes or messages on Anand to eliminate things one by one). Has anyone else enountered this?

I've had issues as well with IE just sitting there after filling out forms. I usually close all IE windows and re-open. You could also try clearing your cache.
Like you, I've never had a problem with Mozilla failing to load pages or submit forms.

Hi,I discovered the same problem after installing the security up-date,April 2003 Cumulative Patch for the Outlook Express. This patch blocks the MIME encapsulation of an Aggregeate HTML(MHTML) after installing.See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article -825803.This up-date #330994 can be removed if it is causing the problem thru your control panel, add or remove programs.Hope this helps:)
