I'm Googled out and hoping someone might be able to help me out here...

Thanks in advance...

  1. Overview
Internet Explorer Crashes seemingly randomly, with the same error each time.
  2. Full Description
Internet Explorer 6 was still being used on this PC (I have since installed 7... see below), seemingly randomly it would crash and close that particular instance. I can get the crash to happen, but not always by doing the same thing.

Sometimes the crash happens immediately upon the default home page (msn.com) opening or others it may take several minutes and several website navigations before the error pops up.

In Event Viewer I get the following errors (they don't always occur together, but these are samples of the two errors I get...and the error messages are the same every time):

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

  3. Did it work normally?
Yes... it was working normally up until 2-3 days ago. Auto updates were not on, so no known changes were made to the machine, from an OS point of view.
  4. Consistent & Repeatable, random, semi-random?
I'll go with semi-random because at the moment IE will crash out every time, just not at the same time/site/function/etc.
  5. I've already tried these steps?
    • Cleaned Temp Internet Files / Cookies / Etc.
    • Loaded all Windows Update Patches, including IE7
    • Ran Antivirus/Ad ware/Mal ware checks. (all come up clean)
    • Ran src /scannow to check for corrupt system files
    • Ran a CheckDisk
  6. The Software
    • Windows XP... all patches
    • Symantec AntiVirus - up to date definitions
    • MS Office 2007
    • Internet Explorer 7
    • FireFox 3
    • Some Canon scanner/ocr software (name escapes me at the moment)
  7. The Hardware
    Dell Optiplex 330, integrated graphics
  8. Other Info
Can't think of anything else to add at this point other than...

Everything (all apps/sites they are trying to access) works fine under FireFox, and there are no other known problems with any other software packages.

few thing that I can think of are
1) any toolbars installed, like google, yahoo, ask, or some other random toolbars? i've seen ie 7 be slow to load with them installed and very occasionally crash too. i would uninstall all ie toolbars as 90% of the functionality is now built into ie7

2) does it seem to happen when loading sites with more flash or java embedded? if so may need to updated those too
