I've been touching up my friend's computer lately and I noticed this (after I ran trend micro virus scan and adaware of course).

Do you know how then you click on links with IE, the computer makes a click noise to tell you that you clicked a link? Well when I exit out of IE by hitting the top right X - it makes a click noise as well. This has never happened on my own computer and other XP computers- I'm wondering is it loading a page before it exits? or maybe something else? Sorry for the vague description but for me, the little things are hints something is not healthy with your computer.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this?

have you tried to go from control panel > sound and multimedia
then check if 'close program' has any sound associated with it?

also, for the clicking sound when navigating/clicking a link, can be disabled by setting the sound for "start navigation" (towards the bottom, and 'windows explorer' section) to None
