Internet Explorer poltergeists?

I'm one of those weirdos who actually kind of liked IE. But as a Vista user I'm stuck with IE 9, which more and more sites no longer work well with. So I've been slowly inching my way toward Firefox. I finally got tired of trying to keep my bookmarks manually synchronized, and so a few days ago, I went cold turkey -- changed my default browser to FF and haven't used IE at all since then.

Yet, when I run CCleaner, which I do often, I still frequently see IE temp and history files, cookies and other IE "stuff" being deleted, along with the Firefox files. I'm the only person who uses my computer, so it's not that. I'm not paranoid/"worried", but I am totally confused! I really can't imagine what's going on here. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on?

Aha! that seems to explain it. Thanks for that link. I haven't bothered to check any of the IE stuff in detail, but next time I run CCleaner I'll "analyze" before deleting everything...

[Edit] As for the warning against using CCleaner with FF, I've been using Firefox part-time for quite a while, and CCleaner for years. Can't say I've noticed anything unusual/any problems using it, and it's much easier to "manage" cookies with CCleaner (ie, keep some permanently and delete all others, as well as everything else undesireable, with a single click.)

Nothing wierd about liking IE.. Your letting the mainstream BS affect how you feel about something....

I HAVE IE6 AND I LOVE IT!!!!!! (I dont care what anyone thinks, etc) -- I have MyIE2 which is an an IE wrapper and I usually use that as it has MORE FEATURES/NICER UI than IE6 does..... Although IE6 allows me to use Custom CSS which is amazing! (I didnt realise that until recently -- Im glad MyIE2 will work with it)

I agree newer isn't always better. My only gripe with running old versions of a browser is that there are serious security holes in most versions of IE and FF....once they stop updating those products, you're locked to wherever they stopped support. It may never amount to much, but browsing isn't as safe as it used to be.

Mostly I was being facetious.😉 The only reason I switched was that certain sites simply no longer worked with IE9. Since I'm using Vista, I couldn't switch to IE11. Isn't that a problem - or even more of one - with IE6?

In any event, I find the overall feel of Firefox close to enough to IE that it really hasn't taken that much getting used to. Not to mention that I've come to appreciate the greater "configurability" of FF over IE.

Well If I have to I just change my useragent to whatever browser they want...... One VBB site blocks anything below IE7 (No response if you goto it) so I just change my UA to look like 'MSIE 7.0' and its fine.....
