I picked up some pentium 100 machines for some senior adults for e-mail purposes and light internet browsing. All have windows 95 loaded with 28.8 modems and explorer 3.0 Here's my challenge. To upgrade to 5.5 requires a 2+ hour download over the standard phone line using the 28.8 modems. What I would like to do is download it once on the office dsl, get it on disk, and then install it to each of the other computers for the seniors. I haven't found a way to do this yet. Anyone know of a link? TIA

If your machines in work are not Windows 2000 you get the option to 'save to disk' when you download the IE setup files. For some reason Windows 2000 machines don't get this option.

Go into work, download the Internet Explorer setup.exe file from Windows update site. Run the setup file and look for the option which says something along the lines of save files to disk, then do a full download of Internet Explorer. You should then be able to copy these files to files to CD and use on any computer.

Edit : Heres a link explaining how to download only.

BTW - you can do a download only using Windows 2000 - you can find info on Microsofts knowledge base.

Bump. This doesn't work this way. Anyone else? I don't want to buy the disk from Bill G.
