Internet Explorer has long pause before openning

For some reason my IE 6.0 (windows xp pro version) has a fairly long pause before it actually opens after you click on it. How can I fix this problem?

does it say anything in the status bar like...."detecting proxy settings" ? There's nothing you can do about that if you rely on DHCP for setting up your internet connection.

You do not need to leave the "Automatically Detect Settings" box checked if you use DHCP. You only need to check it if you use a proxy server, and even then, it usually wont find it, and you would have to enter the proxy manually.

Uncheck the Automatically... box and the "Detecting proxy settings" message will away and IE should be a bit faster.
