How do you turn off the personalized menu option for the favorites drop down list. It is driving me crazy constantly changing my selections.

Tools>Internet Options...>Advanced>Browsing>UNcheck "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"

Or search the forums for the last dozen times this was asked :)

Lighten up Francis :) No one was saying anything about you...

The implication was that too many new members ask questions that have been answered numerous times, instead of trying the generously provided search engine.

In defense of rondeempc, I did
a search on favorites. But it didn't return
anything relevant to the topic. I
used the option "TITLE OR BODY", and looked in
"Software..." and these were the results I got:
this thread
" When organizing favorites in IE, how do I stop the 'links' folder from re-creating itself? "
" How can I change "Favorites" in IE5.5 so they list in alphabetical order? "

None of these apply to rondeemc's question.

I also did a search on personalize, but that
didn't return anything relevant either. I
used the option "TITLE OR BODY", and looked in
"Software..." and "Off-Topic" and I got
back 5 results, here's the topics for 3 of them:
"Mac Users Are Weird"
"[UPDATE] I got the job!"
"Probably another urban legend..."

I think it'd be more helpful if you can
tell the person HOW to search. I have
a feeling that I need this information too. :)

Actually I did do a search on the combination explorer and favorites and nothing returned was applicable. My comment was addressed at the fact that you thought I missed the "dozen times" portion of her message. Bottom line is she had the answer and I appreciate her help.

ok then..as long as the question got answered that's all that matters.
1. I thought that it was funny that he "appeared" not to have noticed.
2. no personal insult was intended
3. i'm all for helping pees out, but it gets difficult to answer the same questions
4. this is pointless :) because everyone has their opinions
5. here is a quick lesson when using the search engine....

First, don't generalize your search, be specific in order to reduce the number of hits.
Example:
In this case he wants to know about personalized menus...so in the search engine I type in "personalized AND menu", select "title OR body"
select all forums...and here come the results:
Getting rid of personalized menus ...
Does the IE personalized favorites work for you?
how the hell do you turn off personalized menus in IE 5's favorites drop down?
Start Menu Problems in Win2K (fixed)
Start Menu change in 2k 8 TheVrolok
WinME start menu

Don't limit your search to certain forums as many posts can be OT or placed in different forums depending on how one looks at it. Also, use booleans to your advantage as this can narrow the field drastically. Hope this helps...cheers :)

Ahh! Thanks need4speed.

I see my search skills need to be
finetuned a bit. Thanks for the tips!

anytime... :)

See I'm not all bad all the time... :) I do have good info to share, sometimes...lol
Finding things with Search engines can be quite tedious. It takes some practice to know what to type in, when to use quotes, and what boolean operators to use. You know what they say though, practice makes perfect.
