Internet Explorer CPU Usage Jumps to 100%

As of a couple of days ago I have been having a very strange situation with my computer. Whenever I run internet explorer and attempt to do anything my cpu usage jumps to 100% and everything becomes very laggy. Typing this message is very tedious because there is a delay of a couple of seconds after I type a letter before it shows up.

I don't have any virus scanners installed, but I ran the Trend Micro scanner and it didn't find anything on my system. Any ideas?
 
What version of IE are you running and what OS?

Have you tried uninstalling, or installing the latest version, or doing a repair?
 
I remember some of the Win2k computers at the school computer labs did that too. I didn't have any priviledges so I just used Netscape instead.. 🙂
