Oh god, thats one of IEs top nagging annoyances.

I can't quite remember what you have to do to fix it; its something like closing all windows, opening one, then open new window and manually resize that to full screen (not just clicking on maximize) and then closing all windows again.
Thats just from memory from last year, though, and i'm probably missing the rain dance you have to do, and the chicken you have to sacrifice....

Just another one of the reasons that made me switch to firebird

Internet explorer (like all microsoft products) are supposed to open to a set size. The size is the size of the last window you had open. So close all your windows except one, resize it, close it - and your problem is supposed to go away. Holding down the "CTRL" button while resizing can override this in some options (meaning you don't have to close all the other windows). If that doesn't work, your Internet explorer doesn't operate like it should. (All versions I have all work exactly like I mentioned).

middle click and open a new tab ... you'd need firebird or similar for that.

It didn't work before for me and that's why I said nvm, but I just tried again and it worked. I'm baffled. Anyway, the way it worked just now:

Open a new window (other than this one) and set the size you need, then close it. Now try opening a new window and it should have that same size you just set.

It worked both times when I increased and decreased the size just now (IE6 on XP). I use a mouse button for the "Close" function though.

EDIT>> still don't understand it... very spotty responses.

If you ask me this is a decent feature that is very intuitive and I don't see how anyone over the age of 8 couldn't figure this out in 5 seconds on their own.

Try opening a window, put it to the size you want, then closing it while holding down shift...

...I think.

If that doesn't work (as in my case)?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I tried it 100 ways ... what just worked was:

Open window with symptom ... close all other (normal) IE windows ... then, LASTLY close the one I resized ...

That seemed to work ...

Thanks guys!
