Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 out now

It is also now available for direct download and install at MS:

A 29+MB file, and a quick, seamless install over IE10 preserving all settings and appearances. Very nicely done.

i agree 100% because i just upgraded to internet explorer 11 on my windows 7 pc and although it's not as quick in everything as firefox 25 it was very close or faster esp in anything graphically intensive. i have used firefox for almost as long as i have owned windows 7 so a long time and i will give internet explorer 11 a chance but it's made a great start. 🙂

Good news, indeed! Hopefully it will fix some of my compatability problems...

EDIT: Uh, oh... you can't turn off tabs...

Hmm, do you know if there is any kind of addon you can install to turn them off or is that a permanent new "feature"?

anyone having problem with scrolling not working? I've had the problem in the last release preview too, it just won't scroll with mouse on some open tabs and some yes, randomly

No problem scrolling, but, . . . I don't see tabs at all. Weird!

After I updated to it I discovered that it doesn't lock up and crash like the last two did. Firefox has always behaved for me but I prefer ie bookmarks better.

faster..yes
prettier..maybe
still has security holes wide enough to drive a tank thru....definitely 🙂

no thanks.........

I would like to note that the bolded is not true. I was dealing with just that problem all afternoon. Specifically, that it sporadically would get ActiveX filtering turned on (when it was off in IE10), on some machines, and on all of them, seems to lose the user-added compatibility list. Now, TBF, there's no excuse, IMO, for needing either of those features, in a web app used in 2013, but those are very much browser settings.

Is MS doing some kind of phased roll-out, or is it based on update settings? I've seen it in the list of important updates, but unchecked, on several PCs, but just today have also had people who had just been upgraded to it, unbeknownst to them (or me, until maybe the 3rd person with the same problems).

Absolutely true on three of my Win 7 machines. My two Win 8.1 machines came with IE11, and it was an upgrade of 10 from 8.0. Same story. Sorry yours was not so.

Turn on the Menubar and do Tools > Compatibility to add sites, and I also turn off Popup blocker in the settings (for using on business sites that require IE).
