Internet dropping = Computer freeze

Have had a weird problem for a long time where if my internet happens to drop for a while for whatever reason, my computer completely freezes up. I don't know what to do about it.

For instance, if I access router properties from my computer, and reboot the router, my computer will completely lock-up 1 second after I hit the button.

Connected to a home wireless network. No other computers in the house have this problem. On Cox HSI.

Ever heard of anything like that before? No internet connection is going to stay up 24/7, so I can't have my computer crash every time there's a hitch in the connectivity.

Sounds like a driver problem or IRQ conflict. Is it USB or pci card wifi in your computer? If it's PCI try a different slot if possible. If it's USB is it connected to a USB hub? If so is a powered hub? What operating system? IS ACPI enabled in the bios?

It's a PCI card. Using Vista x64. Not sure about ACPI, I'll check it out and move the card to another slot. Thanks.
