Internet death threats

Say I really piss someone off here at AT, and they send me a message and say they are coming to my house to kill me, then go on about how they are going to do it. It seems that such a thing would be against the law, but who would you go to? Assuming the person is in another state, wouldn't it have to be the Feds? And would they even bother with such a thing?

The FBI, and they're taking these things more seriously now that a number of sensationalist news articles have talked about people making threats on the internet prior to going to someone's house and killing them. We can tell each other to DIAF all day long, but the second I go burn your house down and the news picks up the story, the FBI gets egg in its face for not recognizing the "signs". Then, internet crackdown.

No one yet, have to make sure I have all my bases covered. When I'm ready to do the threat I'll set up a pole so everyone can pick their favorite. I wouldn't to piss anyone off.

What does you setting up a pole have to do with death threats? Why not just set up a poll to see what kind of threat you should send...or maybe a poll so we can pick the wording...or maybe a poll to see who to send it to.

It's illegal to threaten to kill someone, but not to wish they were dead.

It is illegal to say if they died you'd pay someone for letting you know I believe.

Internet posts can be considered libelous and have gotten some people in hot water when they thought the internet was just the land of make believe.

Even today there are people out there that think everything online is bogus.

Flip a coin as to whether the agency called is going to give a fuck. I think that's the main issue. They're probably either in full reactionary mode or call us when you're dead and we'll look into mode.
