Internet Course Lesson Suggestions

The instructor has asked me (the TA) to give the lecture on Monday because she will be out of town. The course is essentially a basics of internet course with a strong emphasis on web design. I can pretty much talk about any general internet topic I'd like. Last semester, I gave a lecture on security (SSL, encryption, virii, worms, etc) that was well received.

I have 45 minutes and the target audience is third year college students with little to no computer experience. I can either give the same lecture I did last semester or pick something new so I was just probing the ATOT community for any suggestions of an interesting topic. Thanks for any suggestions.

Bewbies?

Effective implementations of topology-based planning coordinated with logical-based planning for the pornographic industry...

I think they'll enjoy it...

Seriously though:

Since the class is on web design, focus on Webdesign. Perhaps discuss the overall place of webdesign in the IT or other industries. Go into detail on how webdesigners and content-providers need to coordinate their efforts to produce the best product. In addition, discuss the types of careers webdesigners may have, or how the skill might help others in different careers.

Well, we cover web design for 90% of the course but I try to give some other information when I give a lecture. She actually has some "industry" people come in and give talks very similar to what you suggest and they are a lot better prepared to discuss that side than I am. Thanks though for the suggestion.

what kind of college lets 3rd year students have little computer experience?

I am sure everyone uses computers to type their assignments, check their email, and chat with friends. I don't consider that having good experience. The aim of the course is to not require you to know anything coming in to it though that is rarely the case.
