Ok new problem 😀 I have WinXP all installed. With every other PC I always had my net detected and didnt have to do anything. I cant seem to get connected.

I'm running cable, connected to a router. What do I do to get connected?

Thanks

Did you install your motherboard drivers?

Yes, is your NIC onboard, or a separate PCI card? Do you have it set to "Obtain IP address automatically?" Same for DNS?

Oh, no mobo drivers yet. hehe, I'm dumb. I suppose that would fix it?
Hold up a second, bro. Do you have a firewall? edit: I guess you did say you have a router, never mind that part then 😱

Take note of the tips I put in my last post on your other thread about avoiding having your freshly-installed WinXP SP1 immediately tackled by Internet worms. An ounce of prevention... yeah. 😀 If you have a cable/DSL router then you can proceed but should still update your antivirus software immediately and head to Windows Update, and keep going back until the system's fully patched.

I used that earlier today. 😛

I think everyone should have one of these on hand. Just in case they have to format. 😉

Try and unplug your modem and plug it back in. My friend and I were pulling our hairs out formatting, installing drivers etc but all he had to do was actually unplug his modem and plug the power back in and it worked.
