Internet Connection Sharing with Linux/Win ME

I have two machines, one with Mandrake 8 and the other with Windows ME. I have my external 56K modem hooked up to the Linux machine. Both machines are hooked up to a 10 mbit hub with network cards. I would like to be able to access the Internet on the Win ME machine. Under the Control Center, there is a program that will enable Internet connection sharing. I ran that program and it said that ICS is configured. But I still can't access the Internet on my Win ME machine. Is there someone that could guide me? I would be really grateful! SETI@HOME is begging to return some work! Thanks in advance.

You've set up your ME machine to allow internet sharing on it's connection, not the Linux box's. Disable ICS on your ME box. Then, go into Internet options | Connections, and tell the ME box to connect to the net via your LAN, and to auto detect the proxy settings. If the NIC in your ME box has a static IP address, you have to disable that too. Your Linux box must be capable of issuing a TCP/IP address to your ME box, and of course, Internet Connection Sharing. If you can't do either of those, then you'll have to connect via the ME box.
