Internet connection sharing--> linux sharing

Currently have win98se's ICS sharing splitting our cable modem up. since the ics is running off my comp its fairly annoying to have people ask me what happened every time i need to reboot. COnsidering setting up a permanent linux box to do the job. Question is what requirements does it need. Some people have said the 386 that i have will do it, others disagree. Having said all that, are there any good sites where i can get info on what i need to do? I am fairly lacking in linux knowhow but will take time to learn whatever is needed. thanks 8)

Guessing that your cable is <2MBit, a 386 will do just fine. Grab one of those one-floppy-linux distros, like LRP, and you'll be fine.

Freesco works real well. Having 2 or 3 PCI slots in the old computer makes things much easier. 2 for the NICs and 1 for a video
