Internet connection sharing & games?

Anyone know a way to play AOE The Conquerors in the same game room when sharing a internet connection? Works fine on LAN.

I have two puters networked sharing a internal DSL connection with ICS. Microsoft says you can't do it.
 
Thanks for the info...nice site. If I understood it correctly, I'm out of luck unless I'm running Windows ME with Directx/directplay. Looks like Win98se won't cut it.
