internet connection problems after cabe (tv) serivce started

Ok, I've had cable internet for a few months and had the connection as follows --- modem, router (wirelss, 80211b), computers. Was working fine.

Over the weekend I had cable tv service activated and now I am have very inconsistent internet connectivity. some sites are accesible sometimes, and AIM works occasionally. I can access my router config page via the online interface.

I can ping the router, the dns server, my computer, the default gateway, etc. I tried pinging different domain names (ie google.com, msn.com, etc), and some go through. I think google went through, others went unanswered, but I'm thinking that's because the sites don't respond to random pings.

So, when I get home today I will try connecting the modem directly to one of the comps - but would appreciate any feedback in the meantime. Do you think this is a router problem? modem problem? Thanks for any help guys.

Oh, I also tried disconnecting the splitter for my cable TV and still no go (thining maybe the signal was too weak).
