Internet Connection problem(dial up). Have to reboot everytime i want to connect

here is the deal:
after i have connected, then disconnected, i cannot reconect again until i reboot. then its the same cycle all over again. Thanks

Is it giving you any errors when this happens? It sounds like it could be an IRQ conflict and is not letting go of the com port.

no, it just hangs on verifying pword. it didn't initaially do this, it started a few days ago. I cant think of anything i did that caused it either...

weird that happens to me too. I'll connect and then disconnect immediately. Then i can connect again but my connection won't do anything, it just sits there.

Okay, couple of things to try, sorry if I'm not quite clear. Try doing a search in Microsoft site, you'll be surprise how helpful it is sometime(or try google.) Next, I think you're dial up program(?) screwed up. Might want to reinstall that. Will Tweak(?) help? Sorry coudn't be more helpful.

try removing and readding your modem...rebuild tcp/ip protocol stack...after this rebuild a connectoid for your isp...keep us updated...

i am with Sad, make a new connection like you have NEVER had one before.. that should certainly fix the problem.. if that don't work..

Re-Format..

in the mean time.. instead of restarting, can you go to log off..

that should be enough to get you to a "fake restart"

i tried removing and readding the modem, no avail(sp?). I am about to just reformat again. This sh1t is all so screwy, i havent even installed a service pack yet:-o.
