Internet checking accounts

I've always looked at the threads in Hot Deals for internet banking and thought that I ought to get in on it. Well, I have to open a new checking account so maybe now is the time.
So, what online bank should I go with? How hard is it to set up? How long does it take? Who has the best online bill paying service? You know, all the usual questions. Plus one other, what is your experiences with your online bank?
Remember this is a checking account (I don't have enough money for a savings account), and it must be totally free. I will have direct deposit if that helps. Thanks, Lynn

I know.

I use WAMU but B of A seems great.

I notice that it even shows you a photocopy of the checks which you have written. Nice feature.

A number of institutions offer this feature. Even smaller, local credit unions (had this one in Florida that did).
