If a camcorder says it can use up to 240 VA does that mean it can be connected to a european powergrid without anything but a simple physical adapter?
 
yes. that means all you need is a simple physical adapter - something that will plug into a european socket and present you a US socket
 
It also has to say 50/60Hz, but if it's up to 240A, it will.
Yep, all you need is an adapter for a socket.
