international power adapters

I need some help on an international power adapter for a dell laptop (will be in the UK). First time traveling across the pond. I am not sure what i will actually need. Does the laptop power adapter regulate the voltage and all i will need is the adapter for the plug? Or will i need to get a voltage regulator to change it to 110V(120?).

All i saw at radio shack was a 60/1600W that appears it would not do what i needed.

Read on the adapter at the info. Normally it lists input voltage and output voltage/amperage. If it says 110-230V then all you need to do is convert the plug. If it says 110V, then you'll need a voltage converter.

As an example, my 90W A/C adpater for my HP DV9550t:

90W adapter

Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5A(1,5A) 50-60Hz
Output: 19V(19V) === 4.74A(4,74A)

So that means with a plug conversion my adapter can take any voltage 100-240V as long as it is the standard 50-60Hz, and turn it into the 19V DC my laptop uses.

Thanks. Just got back from getting the adapter. My phone, ipod charger and laptop all say 110-240v on them.

UK has its own plug adapter - different from continental Europe. I carry both. That's all that's needed.
