I'm pro legalization. If you decriminalize all of it, then criminals will no longer control the markets. I know, this has been argued a million times. The war on drugs is one we will never win...period. If people want drugs, they are going to get them. There is no stopping it. Obviously, with the risk of arrest, jail and prison, it has not slowed the drug business down. It's alive and well. Legalization of all the things the gangs and mobs control, would be like pulling a well greased rug out from under them. They would fall hard!

The only ones winning is the court system and lawyers. Both of them bring in revenue, thru the revolving door of arrest, bonds, bails, legal services, etc. That in itself is a huge economy. :(

I've been to traffic court a couple times, but usually they have some drug offenders in there, as well. What I see is some people with some pretty horrendous records, just going to court, the judge imposes another fine, then lets them back out on the street. Apparently, it's profitable. They know they will be back for more.

Perhaps you weren't reading the posts about decriminalization......

They (the gangss) will still control the market, because addicts spend ALL their money, and still need the drugs. The crime element will get them for the addicts.....at a price. The addict will never be able to pay, so in effect, slavery (identured servitude for cash) is re-instituted.

You are right. No more money for drug crimes, now it's slavery instead. Crime will not go away until the lure of easy money and lack of punishment gets changed.
