When can I expect that certain vehicles based around these engines (and not equipped with block heaters - a few are, most aren't) will be unable to start?
The NWS windchill warning for tonight extends only until 4AM - a sign that the school board here is likely to take as "okay, lets make the kids go stand outside because we've taken the political stance that time off over a safety issue is BAD, and if the National Weather Service says it's okay to go outside, it must be okay to go outside"
They've thrown caution to the wind SO many times since the last administration change it makes me sick. 0-visibility, blistering cold, horizontal rain and lightning, white-out snow. It wouldn't surprise me if they attempt to add "windchill of 20 below zero" to that list. The only thing that HAS stopped them from sending us to school is the damned hurricane, which was simply an issue of "nobody has any damned electrcity, only one school has a generator, and half of them are hobo shelters because an entire section of the county is underwater"
So, the obvious thing is that the damned school buses MUST NOT start in the morning. If they do, I intend to walk outside, wearing my normal stuff, get deathly ill standing around waiting for a bus to show up, and then get rich off their candy asses. That's what it'll take to make them think about us as people instead of political tokens - either that or somebody has to die.
