Hi

First and foremost hardware is expensive in the Bahamas so I gotta order online.

So i got this brand new Visa debit card and was going to order some hardware from Chief Value and ZZF (mainly because thier prices are good). But then I realized that they dont process orders with non-us based credit cards.

So what places do you guys know have good prices (cheap shipping)

Here is what I was aiming at ordering (btw I am on a tight budget)

AMD X2 3800 from ZZF @ $155

ECS NFORCE4M-A from ZZF @ $70

Geforce 7600gt from ChiefValue @ $160

G.SKILL 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 from Chief Value @ $82

HITACHI Deskstar 160 gb sata from ChiefValue @ $60

Acer Black 17" 8ms LCD Monitor from Chief Value at $148

BenQ 16X DVD±R DVD Burner from Chief Value @ $33

Powmax BIO II 450W Mid Tower - Super good deal.com $75 (Case PSU $35 mouse/keyboard combo $20 | floppy drive $8 | Shipping $12)

Don't you end up having to pay like import taxes and duties and customs fees and stuff, so it ends up being just as expensive as buying it locally? Or do you just claim it's all "scrap metal, value 12 dollars"? :)

Well, my real budget is about 1000. The extra money is to handle all of the costs to bring it over (just in case it runs that high) I can have the stuff shipped to my friend's US mailbox and he can have em shipped over here.

If I buy locally that build would run me into $2000.

PS. Anyone know why it parses CheifValue's URL like that?

Links to that domain are forbidden. Issues with the company and fraud or people linking referrals or something like that, usually things that happen in the Hot Deals forum result in this.

So should I stay away from CV.com? I was reading reviews and they seemed legit.

Just got an email from them and they said that they dont even process orders from outside the US, no matter the billing or shipping address. If my ip originates from the Bahamas they wont process it.

:(

Why not just have your friend buy the stuff, and send him the money? The only issue might be warranty problems, sometimes warranties are limited to "first buyer" and can't be transferred, but usually that's not the case.

Do Paypal or Google accept cards like yours? There are some places that accept those for payment, so as long as they accept orders from outside the US, that would be an option.

Paypal doesnt do Bahamian accounts (unless you own an american credit card and mailing address).

This friend of mines is here in the Bahamas, he just owns a US mailing address. Several companies here offer such a service (since many Bahamians order from the US).

Maybe e-mail some of these retailers and ask them what they advise you do? Doesn't cost you anything to do that except a few minutes' time. They might just brush you off, and it may sound dumb to think they'd help, but if it worked, you win.

Past that, I got nothing. :) I assume you also determined that the venerable Newegg won't let you order either?

There seems to be few who accept international credit cards. The ones that claim they do only take Candian ones. :(
