Rumsfeld should be fired immediately along with Wolfowitz for starters. Their idea of a smaller mobile force has led to the instability in Iraq today. We did not have enough troops on the ground to secure the country and now we are paying the price. The Pentagon military opposed this idea but were ignored.

At least the Red Cross will try to continue operating in Iraq with its Iraqi staff. It sounds like they only had a few non-Iraqis there.

The idea of a smaller and more mobile force is a good one. No amount of forces would have been able to prevent a guerilla campaign or even contain one.

This is a problem of assessment and concept, rather than capability.

Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz' assessment and concept has left us with 140,000 stressed out overworked troops in Iraq whose length of stay has been increased to 1 year and if at that point things haven't improved can be increased to 2 years. Wrong in assessment and concept and the Pentagon brass told them so right from the beginning. God bless the Americans who are there in country becuase the civilian Pentagon morons have left it to them to secure Iraq without the proper forces and without the aid of a coalition becuase they rushed into an elective war without building a coalition and while insulting the allies we need now. I'm not arguing the American troops didn't get the job done I'm saying with the troop strength Rumsfeld and the civilian Pentagon people claimed was sufficient we cannot secure the country. And they did so telling everyone the US would be welcomed in Iraq using intelligence they knew was cooked and the word of Chalabi who can be trusted about as much as Saddam.

I find this news terribly heartbreaking. They're around to help people and things are looking so dim that even they are having 2nd thoughts :(
