Alright, we all know that nobody wants to send boots on the ground in Syria for many reasons.

Why can't we take a page out of the history and form some sort of International Brigade made up of volunteers like the ones who fought in the Spanish Civil War.

Didn't Russia also try and do the same thing in Ukraine more or less?

In other words, I am sure there must be some way that well trained foreign troops could fight on the ground in Syria under the guise of volunteers or mercenaries?

What are your opinions on this matter?

Russia-backed Syrian army advances on several fronts

There's already a military force on the ground in Syria.
Maybe instead of trying to kill them, we should be helping the Syrian army.

Bashar al-Assad is still a damn monster. Only difference is that he is Shiite while ISIS are Sunnis. As far as I am concerned they are both monsters.

Anyway, imagine 20,000 ex military and well trained volunteers fighting on behalf of US, France, Britain and other Countries.

They could take ground for the "good" guys and maybe later on pose a threat to Assad and his forces?

Russia has the advantage with boots on the ground. Why the hell can't NATO come up with some ingenius plan to do the same?

Bashar al-Assad is still a damn monster.
And ISIS is the sort of creature born from his replacement.
The difference is the dictator can be reasoned with.

They could take ground for the "good" guys...

And the Iraqis will greet us with roses and flowers... wait, no, this a fantasy.
There are no good guys.

You cannot force it to be better. You cannot invade, remove the military, and think everything is going to be okay. You need stability. You need military control, and who better than their own people? You can work to improve their lives without trying to destroy everything first.

I guess you never read much Hemingway. The Spanish Civil War was where the Nazi's tried out may things prior to WWII. Of course Syria has not lost a WWI and are developing new weapons I would imagine.

It didn't seem to slow them down a lot at the time. They developed a lot of the weapons for The Blitz there.

I'm sure there are a lot of Mercs in Syria at the moment. In many forms.

Nothing is ever completely cut and dried.

Things in general have changed a lot since then.
