Depends on the airport. Find a list of taxes to different destinations if you want to try saving a buck.

Not sure.

Didn't they shut down availability of marijuana to tourists?

Lol at SunnyD. :D

To OP, stop whining. I fly every year to europe, and pay in excess of 1500 dollars per ticket for both ways.

Europe to the West Coast is about $880 with both Lufthansa and BA right now. I'd probably pick BA though since they have better baggage allowances.

And then BA pilots/tower controllers/stewards will strike, and you'll have to spend 2 weeks at the airport, lol.

Many airlines stick the "fuel surcharge" portion in the taxes/fees section. Taxes roundtrip to most of Europe from the US will range from around 100 at the low end to 200 at the high end (for coach class that is).

They're putting those things in the "fees" category so they can advertise a lower price.

Just like cell phone bills, $29.99 plan = $80.

You must be doing it wrong. I get the same values as the OP.

However, I think Orbitz is just reporting the fees differently. Continental itself lists it properly ($720 in tickets and $98.40 in fees).

That said, what a crappy schedule. Amsterdam for just the weekend? You'd need a lot more time than that to convince me to fly internationally.
