I was wondering what would be faster to transfer my old harddrive files into my new computer.

I have a usb 2.0 external enclosure and I was wondering if transferring my files (100 gb) would be comparable to if i just hooked the hard drive into my computer.

This brings up another issue because my harddrive in my new system in SATA. How would I hook the old HD into my new computer and make it a slave?

Thanks in advance to all those willing to help a newbie out.

usb 2.0 shouldn't cost you too much performance versus hooking it up internally, but it will likely be a little slower.

You don't, you make it a master or cable select on one of the IDE channels. The SATA setup is irrelevant to the IDE setup.

Unless your transfering 20+ gigs, it would be a waste of time to mount the drive in your machine.
