Internal USB: 6in1 Flash Reader

I got one of those 6in1 Flash readers online, and it connects to the 5-pin (1 extra ground) connector on my mobo... Is it okay to plug that into the 5pin onboard usb, and have my other (front panel) usb plugged into the 4 pin? Or is it not safe since the extra ground is not plugged in? Mobo is an EPoX 8RDA+.
