Internal or External Modem

I'm looking into purchasing a new v.92 modem, but am unsure whether to get an external or internal modem. Are there any advantages to using one over the other? PCI slot over serial port? The two modems I am trying to decide between are:

56K* V.92 External Faxmodem
56K* V.92 Performance Pro Modem

Which of these two would be the better choice?

I personally like internal modems.

If you have the space to loose, then use it. It eliminates an addition to the already messy bundle of wires. That is itself is enough for me to buy the internal.

If it were for a server, I would go external.

Unfortunately your answer doesn't really answer my question. 🙁 Wires don't bother me. I have a router with a built in serial port. Would all the v92 features work even if I use the external modem through the router? The internal one looks like it has some of its own interesting features as well.

Has anyone here actually used either of the modems I listed?
