I know there are tests out there that test how fast your Internet connection is.

What I want to know is are there any programs out there that allow you to test how fast your LAN is? I know that you can hover the mouse over the network icon in your system tray and it'll tell you what your Speed is. BUT, that doesn't tell you how fast the network is actually going.

Any help would be great.

-Ethereal

-NetIq's test utility...

Also, you can be "lazy as hell" and just get http://www.analogx.com 's netstatlive, and Transfer a file to a neighboring PC and read what it says.

<--even lazier and uses the windows netowrking percentage reading to get his bearings:eek:

DonIsHere, netperf. But be careful - any network speed test program really also tests the end systems, and as such the results are likely to not really be representative of the speed your network infrastructure is delivering to you. If your network infrastructure is an Ethernet switch, chances are it really can move the data just fine, and your end PCs are what's limiting the LAN performance.
