internal network problems

At work we have an internal network set up so my IP is 192.*.*.*

We have a verizon DSL line coming in going to a router, which then splits the connection over 2 switches to give everyone in the office access to the internet.

Now, I'd like to set up a server (half life, FTP, anything really) but with my internal IP addess, this seems to be impossible. I have the IP address that our DSL line uses, but thats of no use since it doesn't point to my computer either.

I have a half life server up and running there right now, and I'd like to know if theres any way to connect to it, because as far as I can tell, its a lost cause. I'd like to able to use it for a clan match we have tomorrow night.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

You'd have to setup port mapping/port forwarding/port address translation on your router to your PC. You'd have to be able to connect to the router and alter it's config to do so. The configuration depends on router-to-router, so let us know what it is. Also, this kind of thing is a bit complex for many routers - It might not be something you would want to get yourself into as you could easily mess up the config on the router and knock everyone off the 'net.

My router is a Linksys Etherfast BEFSR41 v.2 router

i got out the manual and found out that i need to connect to 192.168.1.1 in order to set up ip forwarding, but i think the other computer guy set it up and he's in china for the week so i guess i'll have to wait for him to come back so i can get the userid/password for the router.
