A friend of my mother is having me assist her in her online job pursuits (she can't use a computer for ****). I showed her the various job sites and how to use them, and then showed her where and how to look for career sections on individual company websites.
She wanted to check out her old employer, who it turns out has an internal posting that she is qualified for (almost identical to her former job with them) in a department she used to interact with (said she knows some of the workers by face).
I don't want to confuse her but I told her to hold off because internal postings are typically meant for current employees only, not former. Her email account still works and she assumes her employee number is still on file given that her contract ended in Sept 06. Because of this she tried to tell me that she would still be accepted.
I told her not to because it might come across as dishonest (particularly if she uses her old email but they see on her resume she doesn't work for them), but I don't want to hold her back from an opportunity if she is eligible and her old coworkers and boss can recommend her. Is she eligible?
