Internal HDD shows up in BIOS but not Windows 7 explorer or Disk Management?

Just put together a new build and initially tried to use the Smart Response tech that Intel was toting. Enabled RAID, installed OS on the HDD and set the SSD to cache using the software. Worked fine until I rebooted, then got DISK BOOT ERROR message. After a lot of grief, I decided to start over and install OS on the SSD and use the HDD for storage. Problem is that after re-installing, the HDD cannot be detected in Windows 7. BIOS sees it, but it does not appear in windows explorer OR Disk Management. Any suggestions?

download and burn gparted. I've often had issues with disks but they work under that. I delete all partitions under it and then start again under the OS and it works again..
