Hi,

See sig for system. Basically over the past few days I have noticed that the fan on my vid card is making an intermittent grinding sort of noise.. it comes and goes, and doesn't have any apparent pattern. Like right now it's not making the noise, but a few minutes ago it was happening roughly once every second or two (sometimes more, sometimes less). The fan otherwise seems to be spinning normally and I have noticed no lockups/freezes.

I've tried removing it and giving it a clean (with compressed air). The weird thing is that sometimes it goes hours without making that noise, then suddenly will start making it for a few minutes, then stop... wtf.

Is it time that I replace my fan? If so, where would I get one that fits?

Yep those fans kinda suck...... I have had many die on me.

You can remove the fan peel back the sticker and apply a drop of 3-in-1 oil. Give it a few spins with compressed air, then blot up any excess oil with a tissue. You may need a little super glue if the sticker doesn't want to reattatch properly. This will quiet the fan for a while.

Eventually, you may want to go to http://www.svcompucycle.com/ or http://www.jab-tech.com/catalog/index.html and pick a good cooler for your card.
