Intermittent CPU fan failure.

Yes, my 3 day old newly built P4 system with Abit IC7-G mobo and 2.4c P4 with stock Intel HSF has the CPU fan STOPPING DEAD intermittently setting off alarms on my mobo.

Sure, I plan on upgrading to a better HSF. But a few questions in the meantime....

Anyone ever have an intermittent problem like this?
Is it the HSF or the mobo?
I can't see why a fan would work intermittently, I would think a fan would either work completely or not.

Also, this issue didn't crop up until I installed the latest Motherboard monitor 5330, could this be causing issues?
