Intermittent Connection Loss

I'm networked on a Netgear MR314, with me being on the wired part of the router, and my sister using the wireless. For the most part, it runs fine. However, my connection will drop every few hours. I'll get the "Cannot find server" page. Unplugging the router and replugging it fixes it. It will also fix itself after 5 minutes or so. I've tried upgrading the firmware to no avail. To those who care, I've tried versions 3.29 and 3.28.

PIII@150 FSB on WinXP
256MB RAM
Comcast Cable
COM21 modem
Allied Electronics NIC

Help? It's really annoying

Check to see if it's a WAN problem or a LAN problem: When the problem is occurring, can your sister still access the internet? Can you ping the router's internal ip address? Does the problem still occur if you change Cat5 cables and/or ports? Basically, you need to try to do a bit of detective work to see if you can narrow down the problem to a specific part of the setup. Don't assume at first that you have a bad router, as this could also be caused by a flaky cable or flaky NIC. Good luck!

Aye aye. I'll see what I can do. I'm still open to other suggestions, though. BTW, funny sig you've got there :)

You may wanna check your NIC's settings for "Allow the system to turn off this interface to conserve power" in the Properties tab.

ItTheCow -- Did you find your solution. I have a MR314 that does the same thing. May work great the next time I go to the net it will not do anything. IF I kill the power to the router it resets and works fine. When mine goes "down" it takes away wireless and wired communication.
