I had an old 17" monitor on my kids' computer. One day they say that the monitor has a "no-sync" signal when they attempted to boot. No video. I opened the machine to find the fan on the vid card failed. To test this I swapped it out with a voodoo3 2000 PCI. Still no video. I then brought it to my bench and it booted no problem on my test monitor. Bad monitor right? I bought a brand new 19" for them.
The next day it is doing the same thing. After about 3-5 power-ups, I can get it to boot with video normally. I've reset the BIOS even though everything was set as always. BTW, no abnormal post beeps.
Have you ever seen this and/or where would you start?
