Interior design question...[please delete]

Ichinisan

Because of the environment that I was raised in, I lack a lot of common-sense knowledge about everyday things. There was no man-of-the-house, so I'm particularly lacking in home improvement or fix-it projects. I'm almost afraid to swing the hammer and mount the interlocking cube shelves that I purchased for my loft apartment.

My question: Is there a standard height or minimum height for shelves or wall storage? I guess it should be small enough that most types of furniture and appliances could be pushed against the wall beneath it. Before I puncture the drywall and start making stupid mistakes, I hope that someone can provide some advice so I can do this with confidence.

/me is expecting smart-a$$ "suggestions" (please, make them obvious with a " 😉 ")

[edit]
I don't know how in the hell this thread wound up in here (strange browser glitch). I'll re-post in OT.
