Man what a week in college football. Tennessee I'm not surprised about. Notre Dame spanking Clemson though? Bama with 2 losses now? Kansas state? Illinois losing to unranked and suspension heavy MSU?! (It's like no one wants to win the Big Ten West).

And aside from that string of loses OSU struggled and UofM looked ready for an upset until they decided to Football in the 3rd quarter

I never got the appeal of college sports. It's one thing to root for your school team while you're going to school...but to continue it long after?

I used to follow college Football years ago but I became disillusioned by all the "rankings" and "championship" playoffs nonsense that they STILL haven't managed to get right even in 2022.

I'll still watch the occasional bowl-game and I go to several Yale home games @ the Yale bowl every season as it's literally 300 yards up the street from my home but that's about it.

Maybe you don't like it, but I love college sports. I've been to few games at Joe Louis Arena back in 2010 and 2011?, but it was nothing like seeing a college hockey game at Yost. Professional sports don't seem to have the energy and atmosphere that pro sports team do. The marching bands, the students, the old stadiums, all the school traditions, not too mention the general chaos from week to week.

Probably stems from college sports being the progenitor of pro sports. And while not every state gets a pro team, college teams are much more prevalent, more local and thereby much more accessible.

I always thought it was like watching a group of apprentices play another group of apprentices...AKA, watching a monkey fuck a football.

I've always thought that college football has way more passion & heart than the NFL.

Not to mention generally stronger ties to the local community. Prominent teams tend to come from large institutions which have a huge local and regional presence. Not only do they have hundreds of thousands of alums which have a shared background (so easy to start a convo at a game\tailgate\bar watching the game) but usually tens of thousands of employees as well. You're just not going to get that level of association and interaction with the institution with a pro team
