Interesting thread on reddit about WD10EARS drive performance

I suspect 2 things:

This drive is having firmware problems (New WD we have had in for testing on our duplication products have had some problems like this)

or


This is a bad drive from the factory. The inner area of the disk will always perform worse, but this is extreme.
