My mobo and HDD temps have dropped (1-2'C) while my CPU temp has risen (8'C)..

I have a nice little aluminium case with two 80mm fans exhausting at the back, so i guess putting the side of the case on means that air is sucked over the HDDs and mobo, cooling them a bit more, but that doesnt make up for the CPU fan being able to suck cool air from outside the case...i guess it's now using air that has been warmed up flowing over the HDDs, RAM and mobo?

Aerodynamics and the study of airflow is an absolute science. People stating as a fact that have the side panel on or off, fans exhausting or inhaling, etc are just kidding themselves, because in any particular setup it's going to be different. There's no telling exactly what has caused this, though I find your diagnosis quite likely.

Hi, What's more important is that the air inside the case is moved. You have 2 fans plus the PSU fan blowing out. You may be better off moving one of the fans to the front of the case if possible and blowing in. The front on most cases has mounting for fan and vents to blow through. Hope this is some help, Jim
