Candidate Votes Percent
Tom Tancredo 60 18.5%
Rudy Giuliani 45 13.8%
Mitt Romney 40 12.3%
Condi Rice 39 12.0%
Newt Gingrich 38 11.7%
John McCain 38 11.7%
George Allen 21 6.5%
Mike Pence 15 4.6%
Ron Paul 14 4.3%
Mike Huckabee 6 1.8%
Bill Frist 4 1.2%
Alan Keyes 2 0.6%
Candice Miller 2 0.6%
Sam Brownback 1 0.3%

It doesn't mean anything right now but I think it shows what the debate is going to be about anyway. Obviously immigration is going to be a big deal this time around. (Tancredo is a huge illegal immigration hawk)

Has anybody seen any Dem straw polls yet?

Just another aspect of spin from right wing pundits/media and a good example how out of touch they are with they think the left is about, I dont think many really like clinton, I thought her husband was a lousy corporate sleazebag not much better then bush sr. or raygun and many agree.

Feingold represents the more mainstream view as he actually fights bush people instead of buckling under like the rest of sellout DLC dems.

Look at the tones in here, the DLC dems are not in touch with how the average joe potential dem voter feels at all, people are mad as hell and ready to fight to get our country back.

The left hates Clinton....

Feingold got a big boost over the censure thing..

Clark is normally #1 or #2 every time.

When you are as far left as Steep, even Stalin begins looking moderate.

Dipshits, I was talking about the myth that lefties worship clinton in any way at all, you buy all this hot air from the right-wing media, it is you all who are so far right you cannot even see what these people are doing, nor do you care imo, I am sure you have some sort of stock option or another and profit off of what bush is doing.

The results would be very different in Utah or Alabama.

Like I said, it's interestin in terms of how the debate is going to frame up. Personally, I think the R candidate will come from that tight, middle (Romny, Gingrich, McCain) pack.

That said, Gingrich is the R's version of Hill. So I doubt he'll be around when it's all said and done.

Ahhh.. Thanks for clearing that up. No... I am not someone who believes that the left worships Hill. From what I understand the extreme left (people like you) are very disappointed in her stance on the Iraq war and other issues. I've even said in the past that she's going right because she knows that as pissed as you guys might get at her, if it comes down to her and an R you'll still vote for her.

The big question in using that strategy is if she can get out of the primaries after pissing off the hard core base of her party. Either way, I really don't think she's going to make it. The Ds are all about winning this time around. They won't put out a nom that they aren't completely sure can win in '08. Richardson, Bayh, someone like that... that's my guess right now.

Dick Morris is the only person I can think of that believes Hill is a lock.

I wouldn't vote for her ever, and never did her husband, and there is nothing "far" left about my stance on the war, actually it is the war supporters who are the fringe, sorry.

Like I said, you all have bought so much crypto-fascist bulls1t like "far-left" (like we even have a far left here in america  ) from the media you cannot see the forest through the trees.

I'd vote Tancredo on his anti-illegal immigration stance alone. And I'd vote against McCain for his anti-American amnesty views.

Interesting to see that Keyes even made the list. I can't believe that anyone actually takes him seriously. Out of the others that I know anything about, I might consider Allen...

I predict that Warner will be the Dem to beat in '08. Its hysterical that Clinton is polling so low, despite all the talk of Hillary this, Clinton that in the media.

My bad. Commie comment was misplaced. Had only skimmed through the other thread.

It's cool, I am no commie, I have volunteered and been active in politics for over a decade, sometimes I may gray the line in frustration in the system but I have always stood up for our constitution and democracy, even though I may critisize openly and suggest tweaks here and there we do have a good system that is a mess right now though.

Some of us are toughest on what we love the most or something.

Politics is a great love of mine, (and at times how I make a living) history and books, thus yeah, I may go over peoples heads, or even not be anywere on the same level since I do not watch or own a tv. I am admittedly a poor writer too, so it may have been me glossing over things without explaining at times.

Regardless, I cannot stand totalitarism in any form.

Traditionally, it is harder for a congressmen to get elected as president than a Washington DC outsider like a governor. This is because a congressman or a representative has a longer record and has had a chance to make is ideas known on the floor of the house or senate. People that have only held state office are better off because they dont have a federal record. Look at the past presidents.

When was the last time a congressman or a representative got elected president?

JFK? They should just make the presidency a lottery, we'd get better pics...

That's encouraging. It's kind of weird to see Tancredo up on top since his national profile isn't all that high and since immigration isn't a huge issue in Michigan. However, global labor wage arbitrage, part of which is immigration, is somewhat of an issue here in Michigan.

____________

can't wait for feingold to win the dem nomination. I love it when the Mainstream left picks their leftist candidate (Kerry over Edwards), someone who will never swing any southern states.

Iowa is now considered the Mainstream left?
