interesting (strange) overclocking experience

just wondering if anybody has ever run into something like this (or has any idea about it).

for a couple weeks now i have been running a gainward geforce4 ti4400 at 315/640, which seems in line with most of the ti4400 overclocks out there. just a couple days ago, i was playing around with image quality options (specifically, anisotropic filtering) and chanced upon this: when i force 8x AF, i am able to get the card up to 330/715 stable. however, as i turn down AF, it becomes less and less stable, and i have to accordingly clock it back down towards my intial overclocking wall.

odd, no?

No. The more the thing needs to compute, the less stressful it becomes on the RAM.
