Ditto that..... there will be major suits flying on that one as soon as an innocent third party (at one point or another, just a matter of time) sees their image or address listed.

Now wouldn't it be interesting if someone found out where they worked and pretended to be someone else. Say a prominent politician. Once they post all the fun personal details of said politician and the onslaught begins I would say the person that owns that site is going to be liable for some SERIOUS damages.

Probably true, but it's pretty goddamn funny for the time being. :D

While the site is a nice idea, all it will take is someone using the picture of someone else who has either money and political ties. The webmaster would be sued and ordered to shut it down so fast it would make your head spin.

Additionally, a genuine site interested in the welfare of the true victims would make effort to stay in contact with law enforcement and a network of organisations, it seems to me. It seems like this is a profit intended business that forgot to consult for legal advice before starting the business. It's still fresh and hasn't yet circulated well enough. Once it has circulated, the suit will take effect. I just noted: Not even copyright information or year the site began.

Also, I imagine people, as it gets more popular, playing pranks on other people in real life by giving someone else's phone number or address. Anything goes on the 'net. Until someone actually endeavours to meet another party in real life or actually gives the other party a phone call, I refuse to accuse someone of an action, as a wannabe, or having intent. I would have no problem if they published the chats and e-mail addresses but not the phone numbers or addresses given.

This is my opinion, again, so don't get personal with me. Stay in topic, as I haven't gotten personal with anyone.

I do not claim to be a legal counsel. The views expressed are simply my opinion and thoughts.

How do you think its a profit oriented site?

BTW, the accused have the opportunity to explain their case to the webmaster about why they should be taken off the list. Not many have ground to stand on, or even chose to plead their case.

"How do you think its a profit oriented site?"

Check this out: "A. Currently our answer is to send it to your favorite child protection organization. I also recommend any anti-child abuse organization, missing children organization, anti-animal abuse organization or battered women's shelter. We're working on putting together a T-Shirt (Like every other site seems to do) for people to buy in the future. Check the How to Support page for things you can do to help our goals."

Although they pretend to be for the real organisations out there by claiming people should donate money to an organisation, they haven't hesitated to state their future plan to make a T-Shirt. Have they stated that their proceeds from the sale of the t-shirts would be donated to non-profit organisations? No.

Playing the "send to a child protection organization" sounds like a public relations effort to prove and establish that they have good intent. It sounds to me like they just started the site, so they are trying to organise their business money making plans and have intent to bring it out in the future. It wouldn't be hard to say, "We got advertisers so we could afford to maintain the site." Maybe they're just having trouble finding a true business that isn't concerned about losing money by sponsoring/associating itself with the questionable site.

Yes, they do. But I had a website years ago (4 years ago) that I started with a similar concept. I was, however, posting something about jerks, not perverts. I also posted materials to back up my reason for concluding that he was a jerk. However, I knew that if I actually spelled out their names completely and gave their personal details, I would be in trouble. I stood a risk of being sued. I later abandoned the idea. Basically, anyone could do that to someone and put the other party in a position of having to defend himself (or herself). It constitutes character defamation if it's unfounded, affects the life of the other party jobwise for instance, and it could cause unnecessary emotional distress to some. The site should not put people in such a position at the risk of losing their jobs and other useful things in their lives 'cuz their images have been tarnished, their families or they harassed all based upon an allegation that passed around faster than they could stop it. Again, that's why it would be rather useful not to disclose the given phone numbers and addresses. And it would be useful to report to law enforcement directly, instead of having nerds on the 'net phone to harass someone, if they are really concerned about the welfare of the true victims. Law enforcement investigates the authenticity of the allegation and presses charges if there's any truth to it. You would also want to get someone prosecuted 'cuz harassment does not guarantee that a true pervert wouldn't act upon his feeling anyway.

Why would they? I'm sure that this site wasn't started as a moneymaker. It does cost money to keep servers up and running, not to mention paying for all of the bandwidth. You can intrepret the statements how you please, but I am assuming any money made will be going towards better computers and bandwidth costs.

What possible cause is there to believe this site is intended for profit, other than their nefarious plans to maybe, at some point in the future, release a T-shirt? I see zero evidence of any "business money making plans," and I have a hard time imagining what they might conceivably be. I am sincerely stumped by where your paranoid vision of this site is coming from.

I am not paranoid. I don't see where you see paranoia.

All right, Don Vito, let's just put it this way: Let's see what happens as time goes by. Only time will tell the intent of the site and what happens as far as legal matters. I'll be sure to keep myself updated. If anything happens, this forum still exists and I'm still around, I'll update the rest too, in case the site and subject was forgotten.
